Galician produce from the rías and the countryside, seared in our cast-iron tixolas until it takes on that touch of char only hot iron can give.

Social proof
The same things come up in review after review: produce from the rías, iron tixolas that arrive sizzling and a terrace with the Cathedral as a backdrop.
The reviews stay where the people who wrote them put them: on Google and on TripAdvisor. That's where you can read them in full, and where they're always up to date.

No. At Tixola we don't take bookings: tables are first come, first served, both inside and on the terrace. The best times to find one are right when we open — 13:00 and 20:00. If you're a large group, give us a call on 646 45 72 74 and we'll tell you which time suits you best.
Yes, with one important caveat. The menu on this site flags the 14 allergens subject to mandatory declaration for every dish and lets you filter out whichever one you need to avoid. That said, the only dishes we declare gluten-free are the Croquetas sin gluten (gluten-free croquetas) and the Postre sin gluten (gluten-free dessert); for everything else we state what a dish contains, never what it doesn't. All 14 allergens are handled in our kitchen, so always tell our staff when you order and we'll confirm it there and then.
Vegetarian, yes: the Tixola de pisto de verduras (a slow-cooked vegetable stew with eggs and chips), the Patatas bravas, alioli o mixtas (chips with spicy brava sauce, with aioli or with both), the Salteado de verdura, arroz y setas (stir-fried vegetables, rice and mushrooms), the Tortilla guisada con champiñones (a Spanish omelette finished in a short mushroom stew), the Timbal vegetal (layered vegetables), the Queso frito (fried cheese) and the Queso del país, Queso de oveja and Queso de cabra (local, sheep's and goat's cheeses). Several contain egg or dairy, so you can filter them by allergen on the menu page. Nothing on the menu is vegan: if you're coming, say so when you order and the kitchen will tell you what can be adapted.
We're at Rúa Juan de Austria, 7, 32005 Ourense, a one-minute walk from San Martiño Cathedral, right in Ourense's old town. The area is pedestrianised, so we recommend parking in one of the public car parks in the centre and walking over; the “Get directions” button on the website opens the route in Google Maps.
Yes, we have a terrace right on Rúa Juan de Austria, with the church of Santa Eufemia in the background, and we keep it open all year round whenever the weather allows. Terrace tables are first come, first served too.
House specialities: Griddled zamburiñas, Octopus with grelos, Wines from Ribeiro, Valdeorras and Rías Baixas, Craft beer, Terrace beside the Cathedral, Homemade croquetas, Iron tixolas.

The experience
Our terrace looks out onto San Martiño Cathedral and the church of Santa Eufemia, right in the old town: Ourense's “zona de viños”, the wine quarter, where going from bar to bar for tapas is simply a way of life.
